So excited!

Whenever you book concert tickets, the actual concert seems soooo far away. You book the tickets, you pay for the tickets, and then a couple of weeks later they show up in the mail. You put them away in a safe place. Sometime between then and the actual concert, someone mentions the concert, and you go to check your tickets, only to discover that you have forgotten where the safe place is that you put them. This is followed by a few days of frantic hunting and hand-wringing, until you finally locate them. You check them, double-check them and put them away again.

Then before you know it, the actual concert date is just around the corner. The level of excitement in my house is rising like the floodwaters in Noah's time. The kids and I, and a friend and her kids are going to see Taylor Swift next Saturday. I know this sounds weird, but I think I am a little in love with her. She is the most normal, beautiful, kind, morally conscious celebrity I know of. I can't wait for next Saturday!

I am so grateful for distant family members who hear of hard times and call to let you know that they love you. Most days you can just keep carrying on living your life to the best of your ability. Then you suddenly encounter a day that knocks your legs out from under you, and God sends a little love your way and you find that you can carry on carrying on again. What a blessing!
